With the upcoming anticipated publication (late summer/early fall 2003) of Black Dahlia Avenger IV, I wanted to take time out to give a big THANK YOU to my many readers and reviewers of my BDA series.
As of this date, the Amazon reviews are just six shy of 1400 with an overall ranking of 4.5 out of a possible 5.0. I could not be happier with the response from readers and the fact that so many of you have taken the time to provide your personal reviews.
Here are just a few of the many reviews from individuals and newspapers through the years:
“The hardcover book was pretty compelling. Then when all the transcripts and stuff
came out from the D.A.’s Office that took it over the top for me. That would have been
enough for me to bring a case against Dr. Hodel. I have told my detectives unless they can
find some major holes in Hodel’s investigation–to go ahead and clear the Black Dahlia murder.”
James McMurray, LAPD Chief of Detectives
“In 1962 I was a detective and was the driver for Undersheriff James Downey who was the
sheriff department’s number two man. One day, he was going to lunch with his good friend,
Gordy Bowers, chief of detectives. Somehow, the Black Dahlia murder came up in the
conversation. I heard Jimmy say, “Oh, that had been solved, but it will never come out. It was
some doctor they (LAPD) all knew out in Hollywood.” In my own professional opinion, Hodel
has put the pieces together and solved the case.”
LA Sheriff’s Commander Thomas Vetter/Lt. Col. USMC (ret.)
And here’s the first full review from film critic David Thomson in the NY Times, just after my original publication in April 2003, which I am particularly fond and proud of. Thank you, David. (Click on the link below for PDF)
